Bolstering performance levels in the Infiniium DSO80000 and 54850 series real-time, digital-storage oscilloscopes (DSOs), the E2690A and N5400A time-interval and jitter-analysis software analyze repetitive signals in compliance with serial-bus, electrical-layer specifications, such as PCI Express, Ethernet, and Fibre Channel. The applications help to identify sources of jitter and provide the measurement insight to illustrate the shape and content of jitter signals that distort the data or clock. The E2690A offers a comprehensive set of tools to analyze random or repetitive signals. Its AutoMeasure capability automatically detects the oscilloscope, assesses which inputs have signals, autoscales them, and determines which standards the signals are using. For jitter analysis, several RJ/DJ decomposition techniques are availab! le. Additionally, the application's TestScript capability allows users to automate repetitive measurement sequences, systematically run them, and share applications. The N5400A jitter analysis software, based on the company's RJ/DJ separation algorithms for analyzing repetitive signals, integrates with the Infiniium 86100C DCA-J software and uses a wizard-based approach to help users set up the jitter display. Prices for the E2690A version 4 and N5400A are $6,495 and $8,000, respectively. AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC., Palo Alto, CA. (800) 829-4444, item number 7959.
