Sony’s next-generation light-emitting diode display (LEDD) is, as per the company, “ideal for high picture quality on large screens”. The prototype emerges as the industry's first 55-inch, full HD self-emitting display using LEDs as the light source. Compared to Sony’s current LCDs, it delivers approximately 3.5 times higher contrast in light environments, approximately 1.4 times wider color gamut, and approximately 10 times faster response time. Relevant specs include a brightness of 400 cd/sqm, viewing angle of approximately 180°, color gamut greater than 100% compared to NTSC (xy), and a power consumption under 70W.
