Dual-Output Bucks Enable Flexible Power Sequencing

Semtech’s SC416 is a dual-output, synchronous stepdown controller with comprehensive features to track startup and shutdown voltages in portable applications. With built-in soft-start pins, the SC416 grants designers the flexibility to track voltage levels in ratiometric, concentric and independent modes. This capability benefits applications where the voltage differential between supply rails must meet defined limits during operating conditions.

The IC requires battery input in the 5-V to 25-V range. The highly accurate outputs are regulated to within 1% of specified levels and are adjustable from 0.75 V to 5 V, or can be configured with preset voltages of 1.8 V or 1.5 V for V_OUT1 and 1.25 V or 1.05 V for V_OUT2. The SC416 also incorporates smart-drive circuitry to reduce EMI. The SC416 is available immediately in production quantities and is priced at $1.39 each in 1000-piece lots.
