Developed on a proprietary DMOS architecture and introduced as part of the company's Burr-Brown product line, the REG101 and REG102 dropout regulators (LDOs) feature output capacitor-free operation and what is said to be uncompromised low-noise performance. The REG101 has a 60-mV dropout at 100 mA and the REG102 has a 150-mV dropout at 250 mA. Both devices operate with a small difference between input and output voltages and operate down to 1.8V.
Via a noise bypass feature, the devices achieve a noise figure of 28 µVrms without the output capacitor. Other features include output voltages of 2.5V, 2.8V, 2.85V, 3.0V, 3.3V, 5.0V and adjustable, an accuracy of ±1.5% maximum, and a fast transient response. In dropout and under full load, ground pin current remains at 500µA for the REG101 and 600µA for the REG102.
Available in SOT23-5 and SO-8 packages, prices range from $0.59 (REG101) to $0.75 (REG102) each/1,000 in an SOT23-5. The REG102 is also available in SOT223-5.
