MTM Power’s dc-dc converters of the series HVC rated for 250 W are designed for railway applications. The specific feature of the series is its use as a self-starting module for trams or trolley buses with discharged batteries, so that the towing process can be avoided. The converters are also used for supplying points, signal lamps and electronic monitoring of the rail net. The converters are available with an input range of 420 Vdc to 975 Vdc, and the standard output voltage of 24 Vdc.
With these high-voltage converters, it is possible to supply electronic equipment while operating off of the 600-V/750-V contact wire. Efficiency is 83%, and the unit supports operation without forced ventilation.
