Non-Profit for Advancement in Robotic Technology Established
Recently, a new university and industry partnership dedicated to the advancement of robotic technology was established. REM-C (Roboticists, Engineers & Manufacturers Consortium) is a non-profit organization that is comprised of both manufacturers and universities. Its collective purpose is to inspire, innovate, identify technical challenges, and to provide engineered solutions to the robotics community.
Over 140 universities in the U.S. with dedicated robotic curriculums were identified by founding members Fischer Connectors, Harmonic Drive, Igus, and maxon precision motors. The costs associated with these technically-based programs, however, are extremely high. REM-C aims to provide universities with discount pricing from sponsoring partner, added levels of technical support, and opportunities for financial support through grants and awards. The organization also plans for networking opportunities with a select group of manufacturers and educators who share a common interest in robotics, an online forum and technical resource, and even internships and employment opportunities.
