CHESTNUT RIDGE, NY. Teledyne LeCroy has announced the availability of the WaveRunner 8000HD High Definition Oscilloscopes (HDO)—8-channel, 12-bit-resolution, 2-GHz instruments. WaveRunner 8000HD leverages the company’s HD4096 High Definition technology and a 15.6-in. touchscreen, high channel counts, and 5 gigapoints of acquisition memory for critical applications such as high-power/3-phase power conversion, automotive electronics, power integrity and power sequencing, and embedded control systems.
Today’s highly complex power-conversion systems, automotive ECUs, and embedded control systems are becoming smaller, denser, and faster. With more signals, sensor inputs, and lower-voltage power rails than ever, engineers need instruments with lower noise and more channels, resolution, bandwidth, and acquisition memory to understand and debug the tangle of tightly coupled signal interactions.
WaveRunner 8000HD delivers 2 GHz of bandwidth with 12-bit resolution for the most demanding embedded control system and power integrity debug requirements. Additionally, eight channels enable viewing of more signals concurrently for more efficient debug, and more acquisition memory for long-duration and high sample-rate captures. Furthermore, two WaveRunner 8000HD oscilloscopes can be connected together to function as a single 16-channel acquisition system—especially useful in power-conversion applications.
WaveRunner 8000HD’s HD4096 technology takes a systematic approach to 12-bit measurement resolution. HD4096 technology provides the highest resolution and lowest noise at full bandwidth—12 bits all the time with no compromises. Competitive instruments either simply drop a 10- or 12-bit ADC into a conventional 8-bit signal path or use software techniques that sacrifice bandwidth for higher resolution—making it impossible for them to provide 12-bit resolution all the time at high bandwidths.
Teledyne LeCroy’s new OscilloSYNC technology teams two WaveRunner 8000HD instruments to view and control 16 synchronized analog channels from a single display and front panel—just like having a single 16-channel acquisition system.
The WaveRunner 8000HD oscilloscopes start at $28,625. They are offered in bandwidths of 350 MHz, 500 MHz, 1 GHz, and 2 GHz; with sample rates up to 10 GS/s and with up to 1.25 Gigapoints of acquisition memory on each channel (5 Gigapoints interleaved). Availability is 6 to 8 weeks ARO.
