Integrating a five-channel, eight-bit A/D converter, the PIC16F72 flash microcontroller is code- and pin-out-compatible with the PIC16CR72 ROM-based and PIC16C72A OTP-based devices. Operating on 2V to 5.5V, the new flash MCU delivers up to 5 MIPS at 20 MHz. Other features include 3.6 KB of flash program memory, 128 bytes of RAM, a capture/compare/PWM module, two eight-bit timers, and one 16-bit timer. Brown-out detection/reset, a watchdog timer, and in-circuit serial programming are also included. Serial I/O adheres to SPI and I2C protocols. Available in 28-lead packages, the PIC16F72 controller is priced at $1.97 in PDIP, SOIC and QFN packages and $2.05 in SSOPs each/1,000.
