The ATS673/4LSE gear-tooth sensors incorporate a single Hall-effect sensor and signal processing circuitry that switches in response to changing magnetic signals created by rotating ferrous targets. The device has a true power on-state (TPOS) that provides an accurate reading of the sensor’s position in relation to the target upon power-up. Digital tracking of the analog signal is used to set up the switching threshold of the device. The resulting switch points are air-gap independent, which improves output accuracy and duty cycle. The device uses an updated algorithm to fine-tune switch points in running mode, maintaining device specifications through large changes in air gap. Built-in EMC input and output structures provide noise immunity to transients and ESD pulses seen in typical automotive applications. The device is supplied in single-step overmold SE package. Price is $2.19 each/100,000. ALLEGRO MICROSYSTEMS INC., Worcester, MA. (508) 853-5000.
