Targeting the transition to a 48-V bus in automobiles, four TrenchFET power MOSFETS claim to set records for on-resistance for their respective voltage ratings and package styles. The 100-V SUP85N10-10 in a TO-220 case has an on-resistance of 10.5

Targeting the transition to a 48-V bus in automobiles, four TrenchFET power MOSFETS claim to set records for on-resistance for their respective voltage ratings and package styles. The 100-V SUP85N10-10 in a TO-220 case has an on-resistance of 10.5 m(omega). Two 75-V devices, the SUP85N08-08 in a TO-220 case and the SUB85N08-08 in a D2PAK claim an on-resistance of 8 milliohms.
The new TrenchFETs can be used to drive motors and replace relays in 42-V bus cars. The most common application will be as a fuel injector driver in commercial diesel vehicles.
For applications where a higher level of on-resistance is acceptable, the SUD40N10-25 has a maximum on-resistance of 25 milliohms. This device combines the 100-V breakdown voltage rating with a 40-A maximum current rating and a surface-mount DPAK. Pricing is $2.02 each in OEM quantities.
