The DiskOnChip 2000 line of flash memory disks has been extended with capacities up to 288 Mbytes. The modular devices are packaged in either standard 32-pin DIPs or TSOPs. The larger capacities are intended to address the demand for memory spurred by the introduction of Windows NT Embedded and the growth of operating systems such as VxWorks, pSOS and Linux in the networking, office automation, and telecommunications arenas. As a complete hardware/software flash disk implementation, DiskOnChip provides a full hard-disk emulation. Units are forward and backward compatible, enabling the new versions to be used in existing sockets without need for system redesign.
