The problem of cancelling the echoes inherent in voice transmission over the Internet is addressed by the firm’s Echo Canceller MegaCore function. The IP core is said to be an average of eight times more cost-effective than conventional DSPs, ASICs or ASSPs implementing the same function. It’s intended for use in VoIP applications such as Internet gateways, voice-over-ATM gateways, xDSL and cable modems. The megafunction uses an adaptive filtering algorithm to generate an estimate of digital network echo. This estimate is subtracted from the received signal to eliminate the echo. The core comes complete with a user’s guide. Free evaluations are available on-line.
