The MEMS Comm Component Library line of RF-MEMs device designs promises to shrink wireless circuitry to a single RF chip. The patented devices will be licensed for incorporation into wireless products, which include cellular phones, mobile Internet access devices, and personal digital assistants (PDAs). About the size of a grain of sand, the devices are attached directly on top of the RF chip. This is said to result in significant space savings by replacing off-chip passive component ICs that must be painstakingly integrated via a printed circuit board. The first set of designs includes a set of high-Q inductors.
