Measuring just 2.8" x 1.9", the Spider may be the industry's smallest single-board computer. The board consumes as little as 4W of power and is available in two configurations: the P501 low-power board with a 400-MHz PowerPC 440GP processor and the P502 high-performance version with an 800-MHz 440GX. Both modules include two Ethernet ports, 10/100 Base-TX for the P501 and Gigabit Ethernet for the P502. Other shared features include 256 KB of L2 cache, up to 256 MB of DDR SDRAM, 16 MB of boot flash, 32 KB of ID flash, two serial ports, an I2C port, a real-time clock, and a 32-bit device bus with DMA. The modules consume 300 mA at 3.3 Vdc and 500 mA at 5 to 12 Vdc and operate in temperatures from −40°C to +85°C. Prices start at $300 for the P501 and $400 for the P502 in OEM quantities.
