The VSC9184 2.5-Gb/s SONET/SDH pointer processor and VSC9182 40-Gb/s, 768 x 768 STS-1 time-slot interchange (TSI) switch are the first two ICs in the company's family of devices that support up to OC-768 pointer processing, scalable STS-1 switching fabrics, and integrated backplane receivers. The devices perform grooming of time division multiplexing (TDM) signals and provide a solution for TDM traffic management for SONET/SDH equipment with OC-3 to OC-192 optical interfaces. Both devices use STS-12 type, 622-MHz protocols allowing integration into existing systems. Pricing starts at $295 each/1,000 for the VSC9184 and $495 for the VSC9182.
